Of course we have been making many efforts to bring more qualified traffic to our site. In doing so we have been speaking with many professionals in our area who do this for a living and 2 questions I have not been able to get a a direct answer to are:

What source should be the highest percentage of web traffic - direct, referring sites or search engines?

How do I we know if our web traffic numbers are "good" as we have nothing to compare them to. More of course is always best but how do we know when we are doing well. The answer from folks we have been talking to has been - Well, you need to drive more traffic to your site. Thats kind of a no brainer but again how do I find out generally what a good number is in my industry? So if anyone feels as though they can generally answer these questions or direct me to a website that might help that would be great. And being new to blogs and forums I am not sure if this the appropriate venue for this so I apologize in advance if this is not ok.
